The Little Black Ant is a worker ant that is shiny dark brown to jet black in color. The queens are larger and have wings June thru August. Colony may have thousands of workers and multiple queens. The little black ant lives and nest primarily outdoors in decaying woods, tree stump, rock piles, or under any large object and in mulch. They will occasionally forage indoors. When they move indoors, they nest in wall voids, crack in basement or crawl space, under cabinets, in any electrical appliances.
Our Ant control Process:
Direct treatment of the colony is the most effective way of controlling the little black ants, however locating the colony is not always possible. Exterior of the home can be treated with a residual insecticide to prevent ants form entering the home. Insecticidal baits are most effective if the nest cannot be located. Since these ants feed on carbohydrates or proteins you may need both types of bait to determine which type of bate to use for control. The bait should be none-repellant, slow acting, and toxic at very low concentrations.
